Tutorial: Galaxy Nails

As promised, here is my tutorial on how to paint galaxy nails.
(promised in my post of final pics, linked here> http://pookybanana.blogspot.ie/2013/08/galaxy-nails.html)
Above is an image of the nail polishes used in this For this tutorial I used nail polishes from different brands, mainly Kiko, but also miss sporty, FCUK and 17.

As with any other nail polish design, you will need the following:
Vaseline, nail file, nail clippers, make up sponge

The make up sponge will be explained later.
As for the Vaseline, I rub this around my nails before applying any polish. That way, if any polish strays onto my skin, it will slide off easily with the swipe of a tissue.
With the Vaseline rubbed around my nails, it's now time for a clear base coat. After this I apply the main polish for this look, navy.

Above illustrates how to create this nail look. Beginning with the metallic purple by Kiko, I swiped it across the old make up sponge as shown. Then, I pat it onto my navy painted nail, using the dry parts of the sponge to blend he purple.I continued using this technique for the next 3 colours. Hint: Try keeping the colours to the centre of your nail, keeping the edges navy. This is what makes it look like a galaxy print rather than a tie dye print.

This is how it should look so far.

Now to what really makes this look like a galaxy print, glitter! The glitter nail polish I have is ideal as it is a clear polish with blue and silver glitter pieces (to appear as the stars in our galaxy). Mine is called "Sparkle Touch" and is by miss sporty.

Et voilaaaa!
