Tutorial: Masquerade Makeup

When I heard my college was possibly going to throw a Masquerade Ball, I immediately began imagining how I should decorate my mask. But then I thought... why wear an irritating mask all night when I could just paint the mask on my face? Aaand that's how I ended up looking like this today. This would also be perfect for Rio carnival makeup!

This post is a detailed tutorial of how I created this look. It didn't take very long either which was handy. It's a bit of fun and I was pretty happy with how it turned out especially seeing as I didn't use a facechart or know exactly what I wanted the final look to be like. I hope yous enjoy!

Above is what I used to create this Masquerade look.

Begin by painting a white line under your bottom lashline. I did this using facepaint but you could use eyeshadow or eyeliner.

I used a fluffy brush to blend navy eyeshadow from the FCUK palette into the inner corners of my eye.

I blend bourjois's teal 02 shadow on my lid, into the navy. I wet my brush before application as this adds to the shine and shimmer of the product.

I used my Catrice matte About Pink lipstick to line the white facepaint.

I blend the brightest pink from the Kiko palette into the teal (02) shadow.

Using Inglot's #94 blue Colour Play lip paint , I underline the pink line under my eyes.

Using my mac black liquid liner, I dot it along the pink lines under my eyes.

Sticking with the black liquid liner, I outline all the work I've just done around my eyes.

I continue to paint the pattern pictured above using my liquid liner.

I fill in the shape to the far left with a lilac shadow and purple Urban Decay glitter liner. Later on I intensify this using a shimmery purple lip paint from the Inglot Freedom System 5 colour round palette.

I use my glitter black Bourjois shadow to fill in the shapes second from the left, and second from the inner corners of my eyes, as pictured above.

I use a light green shadow and Urban Decay's green glitter eyeliner to fill in the shape third from the left, as pictured above.

I use a coral Inglot lip paint to fill in the shape which is third from the inner corners of my eyes. I then fill in the remaining shape, the largest which is closest to the inner corners of the eyes, using white facepaint.

Taking my liquid liner, I paint a triangular shape extending from the circular eye shape previously drawn.

I fill in this triangular shape with Verve form the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette. To intensify this colour, I paint over it with a metallic grey-silver eyeliner (no brand name). I paint a silver glitter eyeliner from H&M on top.

I use an essence dark grey glitter eyeliner to line my upper eyelid. I then coat my lashes in a navy-blue mascara from The Colour Workshop.

Back to our liquid liner! This time, I use it to create the spirally, semi-circular pattern within the triangle extensions of my eyes.

The next step is to draw a V-shape between your eyes. I made my V-shape extend into a spirally pattern, similar to the one with the triangular eye extensions. I use Verve from UD Naked 2 to colour in the V-shape.

I paint eyelash glue within the V-shape and pat on loose glitter using my middle finger. This glitter is from an art shop and is thicker than the glitter that would be found in make up shops/products.

After applying the glitter, I continue the spiral shape on my forehead so that both sides meet, as pictured above.

I then line my lips with a berry lipliner from Catrice. I line them in a circular shape, not lining my whole lips. I use Catrice's Camouflage Cream to cover the edges of my lips that I did not line. Afterward, I pat silver glitter on my lips.
Finish the look off with a sweep of berry blusher on your cheeks.

Ta da..
